Pet Peeve

I have a pet peeve

with

too many

of the circuits presented in your maga-

zine and others: It seems

that the bulk

the

circuit will

use

readily

available

components, but there is one

"tough

dog" that no one stocks, no one

sells

in quantities of less

than a

boxcar load,

or that no one has ever heard of. Noth-

ing is more frustrating than getting

ex-

cited about a project and gathering most

of the parts,

only to find that one

part

is unobtainable.

While I'm writing, here are a

couple

of suggestions that your readers might

find helpful:

I have found

that

a Pilot Photo Graphic

Marker (available only from exotic

sources, like K- Mart!)

works

much bet-

ter and costs less than photoresist pens

preparing

printed

-circuit boards for

the etching process.

Second, one of your

readers suggested

mixing rosin and acetone to create

rosin flux for soldering.

suggest

using

alcohol instead; it is less expensive, and

less

volatile.
